About The MBET Experience

The MBET Experience is hosted by Dan Donovan. I am enrolled in the 2006-2007 Master’s of Business, Entrepreneurship and Technology class (MBET v4) at the Univeristy of Waterloo, located in Waterloo, ON, Canada. In 2002, I completed my Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, also at UW. From May 2002 until August 2006, I was employed full time with ATS Automation Tooling Systems, first as a software developer, then moving on to a technical sales position.

For the past few months, I have also been working on my own entrepreneurial venture, Podium Fitness Solutions. I am hoping that MBET helps teach me the skills I need to get things off the ground! During MBET, this venture has evolved into a company called HealthSpoke, which I have co-founded with my partner, James Moncarz.

In my spare time, I train for and race in triathlons, which you can read about in my Triathlon Journal. I also have a general blog, and you can find more details about me here.

Because the MBET is a new, innovative program, I hope that by sharing my experiences, I can help prospective students decide if the MBET is a good fit for them. If you have any questions, feel free to leave a comment or contact me!

Dan

    Hey! I was accepted to MBET in 2006, however, I had an opportunity to work in Brasil and deferred my acceptance, however, I am really excited to start the program in 2007… can you tell me how you’ve been enjoying it so far? Is it too intensive to comfortably hold a part-time job as well? What about living in Waterloo? I am coming from Alberta (originally SK) and don’t want to move all my furniture, you know anything about furnished places? Any info you can give me would be great!!

    Thanks,
    Steph

    Hey Dan,

    I have been reading your blog for quite some time now. I have been admitted to MBET 2007 program. Just wanted to ask you if we can apply for OSAP for the fees and also do you the difference between OGS and OSAP. Are you supporting yourself financially??

    Thanks.

    My my, you’re such a busy sort.

    Yep, it’s me, a blast from the past. Drone 4456 reporting!

    Good to see you’re busy {Aint you done with the Mbet yet? 🙂 }
    Thought you would like to know that just about everyone else from ATS is busy as well.
    IE. We all bailed out to better jobs, some of us even went to start ups or are talking about startups. Ever heard about the Accelerator Centre? Interesting place.

    Anyhoo later.. DC
