Week 2 Begins

September 18th, 2006 · 1 Comment

The 2nd official week of MBET has begun, and already things are starting to get busier. At about 6pm last night, I finally got around to checking online for what needed to be done in preparation for Marketing class today. I was thinking it would just be a couple readings, seeing how we hadn’t had any classes yet. You can imagine my surprise to when I saw we had textbook readings, some questions to answer (one that even had to be handed in), some cases to read, and posts to make on the discussion board!! All this and I haven’t even bought the textbook yet!! Luckily, Jenn let me use her book, so and I was able to get the reading and assignments done.

I’m going to have to get used to the online system they have for posting assignments and readings. It is nice to be able to access it from anywhere, but it requires a lot of proactivity. I’m not the only one who’s good at partying all weekend and not focusing on school work – our marketing prof that the logon stats were pretty low on Friday and Saturday, but spiked up last night!!

This morning we had the first of our sales training sessions. I had heard from past students that this was one of the most rewarding programs. We had to fill out an online personality assessment on Friday (yes, another personality assessment), which we took up today. It was interesting to see where we fit in relative to everyone, and what were good characteristics for sales people. I apparently fear rejection, which I’ll have to work on! I’ve been surprised with the personality profiles, because they are more accurate than I would have guessed. The entire session today was really good, and I’m looking forward to the rest of these, because selling is everything in business!

Our accounting project is also getting going. We were having some trouble with the online system (UW ACE), and couldn’t get all the files, so everyone was a little worried about what had to be done this morning (I think very few people had actually read the assignment – I know I hadn’t). They pushed it back by a week for us though, so that is a bit of a relief.

On another note, someone from the class found my blog (what’s up Angie!!), so I guess I’d better watch what I say about everyone now!!

Well, it’s 11pm and I still have 35 pages of accounting reading and exercises to do before tomorrow morning, so I’d better get back to it…
